FollowBot · Path of Exile 1 & 2 · all products

You play one character. FollowBot plays the others.

Up to five clients on one machine. Each follower holds a position you set, fights, flasks, loots, takes portals and respawns — on rules you write per character. For anyone who wants a full party without five friends online.

Path of Exile 3.29 ✓ Path of Exile 2 ✓ Windows 10 / 11 Build of

One download, one key. FollowBot, AutoBot, CraftBot and the External Overlay are the same application; your subscription decides which loads.

Position Helper · a range box per follower, 12 presets or your own numbers Build of

What it does

One profile per character. Load it into a client and that character does the following until you press DELETE.

1

Plays the character from its skill bar

Since September 2026 a profile does not need any inputs configured to fight. Auto-Input reads the skills on the character’s bar and their keybinds, holds the main attack, uses the other skills as they come off cooldown, waits for animations, and drinks flasks. One default profile plays any character. The hand-written inputs still exist, on the Manual tab, and both can run at once.

2

Follows

Holds a position you define relative to your character — a distance right and a distance forward, as ranges rather than a point, optionally held relative to which way you are facing. Follows the party leader or a character you name.

3

Fights

Attack inputs fire on distance to you, on monsters being nearby, on monster rarity, or on how many are close. You set the range at which it engages and the range in front of you at which it aims.

4

Uses flasks and skills on conditions

Life, energy shield, mana, a buff being absent or running low, monsters nearby, entering a new zone, a timer, respawn. Eleven input types, each with its own keys and condition.

5

Loots and stashes

Ground items your loot filter leaves visible, within a distance you set. Unidentified uniques checked against a minimum chaos value with an exceptions list. Quest items are picked up from their labels too. Three checks, on by default under Auto loot, cut mis-clicks in dense loot: Verify target before clicking (avoids shrine/altar misclicks), Only click the uncovered part of loot labels and Optimized label scanning. Stashes into your own tabs or a guild stash, by tab index; Click delay: (ms) under Auto Stash Loot sets the pace, and 30 is the recommended value.

6

Keeps up

Takes portals and entrances, follows through zone changes, respawns after death, backtracks to find you, and can stay in a zone for a set time after you die rather than abandoning the map.

7

Sprints (Path of Exile 2)

A setting, not an input. With Enable sprint (POE2 only) on, the follower sprints on Sprint key: whenever you are further away than Sprint when leader is further than: (400 units by default), and Dodge roll past nearby monsters rolls when a monster is within Roll when a monster is within: (300). Delete any Run or Dodge inputs from Path of Exile 2 profiles — the setting replaces them.

8

Handles the tedious parts

Accepts party invites and trade requests, optionally only from one named character. Hands over the inventory in a trade. Levels gems. Logs back in. Activates quests and takes quest rewards.

9

Plays through a controller

A virtual controller of its own — Xbox or PlayStation — without the game window needing focus, so controller-mode clients can be minimised and stacked. PlayStation emulation has no four-pad limit. Or you hold the controller and FollowApp turns your sticks and buttons into keyboard keys. Controller.

10

Launches the game

Run starts a profile’s game client with that profile’s captured game config and saved login swapped in first; Keep Alive relaunches it whenever it closes; the HWID tab gives each profile its own generated hardware identifiers. Run & Keep Alive, HWID.

Following & positioning

Where each follower stands is the setting people spend the most time on. It is a box relative to you, not a fixed point behind you, and the helper draws it rather than making you guess numbers.

Preferred position — as ranges, not a point

Right min–max and Forward min–max. A follower is in position anywhere inside the box, so it stops jittering toward one exact spot and has room to step around you.

Position Helper — 12 presets

A visual picker that fills in the four numbers for you. Pick a preset, then adjust.

Reduce Body Blocking

Followers stacked on top of you in a doorway is the classic multibox problem. Reduce Body Blocking has two tunables for it: Repulsion and Heading Smoothing.

SettingWhat it does
Position relative to leader’s rotationHold the offset relative to which way you are facing, rather than to the world. Turn, and the formation turns with you.
Safe zone distanceThe distance kept from you in town and other safe areas.
Name of character to followOptional. Blank follows the party leader. Exact match — case and special characters count.
Start EnabledActive the moment the profile loads, without pressing INSERT.
Enable bot when leader movesLoaded but inert until the character it follows moves. Useful for loading five clients and then walking off.
Enable PathfindingNavigates around geometry instead of walking straight at you through it.
Path over jumpable objectsWith pathfinding on, routes over obstacles the character can traverse rather than around them.
Movement KeyThe key the follower moves with — any named key, LEFTCLICK or RIGHTCLICK, so a move skill on the right mouse button is held like any other.

Survival & zoning

A follower that dies or gets left in the last zone is a follower you have to go back for. These settings decide what it does on its own instead.

Auto respawn after death

Resurrects at the checkpoint and comes back to you.

Spawn Protection

Guard behaviour after entering a zone or respawning.

Stay in zone N seconds after leader dies

Finish the pack rather than abandon the map the moment you go down.

Backtrack N seconds after leader dies

Retrace its route to find you again.

Take entrances / portals

Follows you through zone transitions, using the portal key you have configured.

Looting & stash

FollowBot does not decide what is worth picking up. Your in-game loot filter does, and it picks up what the filter leaves visible.

Your loot filter is the source of truth

Auto loot picks up what the in-game loot filter shows, within Loot distance. There is no item database of its own to go stale between leagues — change the filter and the followers change with it.

Price lookup for unidentified uniques

Unid uniques are checked against a Minimum Price in chaos, plus a named Exceptions list for the ones you always want regardless.

Auto Stash Loot

Into your own tabs, or Stash Into Guild Stash. A tab index list says which tabs; blank means all tabs. Click delay: (ms) sets the stashing pace — lower is faster; 30 is the recommended value.

Three checks against mis-clicks

On by default under Auto loot: Verify target before clicking (avoids shrine/altar misclicks), Only click the uncovered part of loot labels and Optimized label scanning. Quest items are picked up from their labels too.

Party, trade, quests

The parts of running four extra characters that are neither following nor fighting.

SettingWhat it does
Auto accept party invites / trade requestsAccepts them as they arrive. Optionally restricted to one named character, so a stranger’s invite is ignored.
Auto trade inventory, Click DelayHands over the follower’s inventory in a trade, at the pace Click Delay sets.
Activate quests, Take quest rewards, Quest distanceTalks to quest givers within Quest distance, activates quests and takes the rewards, so followers keep pace through the campaign.
Auto Level GemsLevels gems.
Auto LoginLogs back in.
Inventory Key, Close all interfaces keyThe keys it presses to open the inventory and close every panel. These must match your in-game bindings — the commonest setup mistake.
Mercenary Opt-InOpt the follower in to mercenaries. Path of Exile 1 only.
Mercenary ReviveRevive a downed mercenary. Path of Exile 1 only.

Path of Exile 2

Same key, same download

Following, fighting, flasks, looting, zoning, profiles, hotkeys, Auto-Input and the Process Selector all work in Path of Exile 2, and its own mechanics have their own settings.

SettingWhat it does
Player ResingResurrecting a downed party member. Three modes: None, Leader Only, All Players.
Enable sprint (POE2 only), Sprint key, Sprint when leader is further thanSprinting is a setting, not an input. With Enable sprint (POE2 only) on, the follower sprints on Sprint key: whenever you are further away than Sprint when leader is further than: — 400 units by default. Delete any Run or Dodge inputs from Path of Exile 2 profiles; the setting replaces them.
Dodge roll past nearby monsters, Roll when a monster is withinWith Dodge roll past nearby monsters on, the follower rolls when a monster is within Roll when a monster is within: — 300 by default.
Player 2Makes the profile play the second local player in a two-player Path of Exile 2 session. Read only in a controller input mode; leave it off otherwise.

Path of Exile 2 changes substantially between patches, and so does what the software has to do to keep working. The changelog says what is live in each build — read it after a patch rather than assuming a feature works the way it did last league.

League mechanics & Ultimatum

A checklist of 12. Checked means the follower engages the mechanic; unchecked means it walks past. Turn off anything the build cannot handle.

League Mechanics — 12 entries

  • Abyss
  • Breach
  • Delve
  • Essence
  • Heist
  • Legion
  • Settlers
  • Shrine
  • Strongbox
  • Deli Mirror
  • Nameless Seer
  • Reflecting Mist

This is FollowBot’s own list. AutoBot has a separate, different mechanics list for unattended mapping.

Ultimatum, with a modifier blacklist

Ultimatum is a separate toggle, not a row in the checklist, and it has its own picker for the modifiers you refuse to take.

Auto-Input

On for new profiles

The bot playing the character straight from its skill bar. It is the first tab in Edit Profile — Auto-Input, with the hand-written inputs on the Manual tab beside it — and the Auto-Input checkbox on that dialog is the master switch. New profiles have it on.

What it does on its own, with every slot left on Auto

  • Reads the skills on the bar and their keybinds, and notices when a skill is swapped or a key rebound.
  • Picks the main attack — the fastest skill with no cooldown — and holds it whenever the character is in the attack zone with monsters in range.
  • Uses the other skills as they become available, waiting for each skill’s cooldown and for the previous animation to finish, so one skill does not cancel another.
  • Drinks flasks: life, mana, utility and the movement flask, only when the flask has charges and is not already in effect.
  • Works in every input mode — keyboard and mouse, Xbox and PlayStation controller — in both games.

Two slots are never used: slot 1 (left click) and whichever slot holds your Move Key.

Per slot

The panel shows the eight bar slots as tiles with an on/off switch. Edit Slot opens the slot’s own dialog, Slot On / Off flips it, and a Skills / Flasks switch shows the five flask slots instead.

Flask slots have the same conditions, a Preset: of Auto, Life flask, Mana flask, Utility flask or Movement flask (catch up with the leader), and Auto charges - wait for the flask to have enough charges.

The slot dialog

GroupSettings
Skill slotUse this slot; Preset: — Auto, Main Attack - Held (Only one per profile), Attack / Spell, Curse / Mark, Buff / Warcry, Movement skill, Link, Guard / Defensive.

Humanize inputLow, Medium, High.
NotesFree text; the first line shows on the tile.

Options — profile-wide

The Options button on the tab: Main attack slot: (Auto-detect: the fastest skill with no cooldown, or a slot), Attack from up to N units from follow position (the attack zone, 250 by default — the follower fights from there and walks back to the safe zone), whether Other skills may interrupt the main attack, Never start a skill while another skill's animation is still playing, the default animation time and the pause between two skills as ranges, and Check the mana / life cost before using a skill.

Timing is never exact

Every wait and hold is drawn from a range that the humanize level scales, and each profile carries its own seed, so two profiles with the same settings do not press keys in the same rhythm. That is the point of it; do not try to tune it to a fixed number.

Manual inputs still win

An input on the Manual tab that shares a key with an Auto-Input slot takes that key. Saving a profile with two Main Attack slots is refused, and a Manual input whose key maps to an enabled slot gets a warning.

The trigger system

11 input types

Every skill, flask, aura, curse and totem a follower uses beyond what Auto-Input does on its own is an input: a labelled entry on the Manual tab of Edit Profile with its own keys and its own condition. Eleven kinds of condition, one common set of timing options. Since September 2026 Auto-Input makes most of them unnecessary; Manual inputs are for what its per-slot rules cannot say, and a Manual input wins any key it shares with an Auto-Input slot.

TypeFires when
Timed InputOn an interval. Utility flasks, Vaal skills.
Health / ES TriggerLife above or below a percentage. A checkbox switches it to energy shield.
Distance TriggerDistance to the leader above or below a number of units.
On New ZoneYou enter a new zone.
On RespawnAfter death.
AttackMonsters in range. The richest type — options below.
Monsters Nearby TriggerAt least N monsters within a radius.
Mana TriggerMana above or below, as a percentage or a flat value.
Link InputAimed at a named character, or the leader if left blank. Optionally waits until they are in range.
Auto Flask / TinctureBound to a flask slot rather than a key, so uptime follows the flask.
Buff InputA buff or debuff is missing, its stacks drop below a number, or its remaining time drops below a number of milliseconds.

Attack — the options

  • Distance in front of you at which it aims
  • Distance from you at which it starts attacking
  • Right-click attack
  • Activate only when monsters are nearby, and the nearby distance
  • Minimum monster count
  • Monster rarity, with an “or greater” option
  • Aim at the closest monster to you, or to itself

Buff Input — use the ID

Takes a buff name or ID. Use the ID — names change with the client language — and the Buffs / Debuffs button opens a picker that searches the game’s own list for either game, filtered to buffs or debuffs, with the ID and type of each. Four trigger rows enable independently and any enabled row fires:

  • Buff is: active, or not active
  • Stacks below: a number
  • Time left below (ms): a number of milliseconds
  • Stacks at least: a number — a Path of Exile 1 banner is planted this way, at 50 Valour

Plus a Recharge block that resends the inputs until a stack count is reached, with a give-up timeout.

The Movement Key: in Settings takes LEFTCLICK or RIGHTCLICK as well as a key, so a move skill on the right mouse button is held like any other.

Common to every input type

OptionWhat it does
Multiple keysA sequence, for example Q,1.
Elapse: (ms)Minimum time between fires.
Key Delay: (ms)Gap between keys in one sequence.
Humanize InputsRandomises the timing instead of firing on an exact cadence.
Alternate InputsCycles through the key list instead of sending all of them.
Auto Cooldown / Vaal Skill + CD Grace: (ms)Fires when the skill is actually off cooldown or the Vaal charge is available, with a grace margin. On 8 of the 11 types — not on On New Zone, On Respawn or Auto Flask / Tincture.

Controller

“Controller” means two different things in FollowApp. The bot can hold a virtual controller of its own — the two controller input modes. Or you hold the controller and FollowApp turns your sticks and buttons into keyboard keys for the client it is attached to — Controller Passthrough, configured in the Hotkeys dialog. They are independent settings and can be combined.

The bot holds the pad — Xbox or PlayStation

Pick Controller (recommended) or Controller (PlayStation) in the input dropdown above Load. It needs the ViGEmBus driver and the game client in controller mode; your real mouse and keyboard are left alone. Xbox emulation stops at four pads per machine, PlayStation has no limit. Tick Unfocused input (CTR) in Settings and controller-mode clients can sit minimised behind each other while the bot plays them. Auto-Input works here too: pad slots run on their Auto defaults.

Passthrough — you hold the pad

Set Device Index: and move the left stick — the Left Stick X / Y: readout next to it shows live values. If the numbers move, you picked the right device.

Player 1 / Player 2 — swap which character it steers

Player 1: and Player 2: switch which of your two profiles the controller is driving, without touching the keyboard. Player 2 is the profile with the Player 2 box ticked in Edit Profile — Path of Exile 2, in a controller input mode. In Path of Exile 1 these two keys do nothing.

Key Helper

Names any key you press. Also builds ordered multi-key sequences with Add / Remove and reorder.

Passthrough: two things that catch people, and one rule

The keys you map must be bound in Path of Exile to the actions you want — mapping A: to Q does nothing unless Q does something in game. Put the game into keyboard and mouse mode, not controller mode; if the game’s own controller support is active you get both interpretations at once and every input fires twice. And never map anything to INSERT, DELETE or END — those are the bot’s activate, pause and unload hotkeys, and a stray thumb will unload the bot in the middle of a map.

Run & Keep Alive

Per profile · Edit Profile → Tools

Run on the main window starts the selected profile’s game client and loads the profile into it; Load attaches to a client that is already running. Keep Alive makes Run also relaunch the client whenever it closes. Both are set up per profile in Edit Profile → Tools, on the Keep Alive tab.

FieldWhat it does
Keep Alive - relaunch the game when it closesOff = Run starts the client once.
Windows User:The Windows account the client runs as. The dropdown lists the enabled accounts on this machine. Blank = run as you.
Password:That account’s Windows password. Show reveals it; Test login asks Windows whether it accepts the pair, without launching anything.
Path:The client executable. Browse... opens where the client was last run from; a new profile gets the best guess filled in. Must be set — Run is greyed out without it.
Swap this profile's captured config and login into the game folder on RunPut this profile’s captured game config and saved login in place before the client starts.
Capture current / ClearCopy the config and saved login the game is using right now into this profile, or remove the capture.

There is no Domain field; it is worked out from the user name.

Several game accounts from one profile list

Each profile can carry its own copy of the game’s config and saved-login files. Log into the game as the account the profile is for with stay logged in ticked, close it, press Capture current. From then on every Run of that profile — and every relaunch after a crash — swaps those files into the game folder of the Windows user the client runs as, so it comes up logged into the right account. The files the folder held are kept beside it as .followapp-original (once) and .followapp-last (every run). FollowApp never sees or stores your Path of Exile password; the saved-login file is the game’s own.

Relaunching only, one account

Leave Windows User: blank. The client runs as you, no password is stored, and the login swap still works.

HWID

Per profile · Edit Profile → Tools

The second tab of Edit Profile → Tools. It lists the hardware identifiers the game client hashes into the machine ID it sends at login — motherboard, CPU and every physical disk, in the order the client feeds them to that hash — and the resulting ID. Refresh re-reads them, Copy all copies the list for a support ticket.

Generated identifiers, per profile

With Enable ticked, the profile replaces those identifiers with a generated set, so the game sees a different machine for that profile. Generate new IDs makes a fresh set. IDs are per profile, not system-wide, so generate a new set for every profile. Recommended for anyone running more than two game clients on one machine, or on a machine that has been flagged. It is a setting about what the game is shown, not a promise about what the game does with it.

It only works through Run

The identifiers are recorded when the client starts, before login, so the profile has to launch the client: with Enable on, Load is greyed out and Run is the way in. Set the client path on the Keep Alive tab, and a Windows user if the game should launch as another account. Bypass "Load" disable (Not recommended) turns the grey-out off for people who know what they are doing. A client running as a different Windows user needs FollowApp started as administrator.

What changes the ID, from the client’s own hashing

  • Reinstalling Windows does not change the ID.
  • Adding or removing a physical disk does; a virtual disk does not.
  • A new virtual machine gets a new ID, but a clone keeps it.
  • A BIOS update does not reliably change it.
  • The MAC address is only a fallback.

The app & hotkeys

FollowApp is the window you load profiles from. Three hotkeys, reassignable, drive every profile.

Hotkeys — three, and only three

INSERTActivate — start the bot
DELETEPause — stop it acting, stay loaded
ENDUnload — detach from the client

All three reassignable in the Hotkeys dialog, which has a Defaults button.

Profiles

One profile per character. New, Copy, Edit, Delete, Load, with a free-text info box summarising the selected profile.

Process Selector

Drag the target icon onto a game window; the resolved window name fills in below before you commit. No guessing which of five identical windows is which.

Input mode

The dropdown above Load; the choice is saved and applies the next time a profile is loaded. Four options. Internal — the bot works from inside the client it is attached to; your real cursor never moves, and several instances run side by side while you keep using the PC. Around nine in ten members run this: more features, far faster. Global Inputs (recommended) — the bot takes the actual mouse and keyboard; the client it drives must be the window in front. Controller (recommended) — the bot plays through a virtual Xbox controller (ViGEmBus driver and a client in controller mode; right-click the dropdown for the guide). Controller (PlayStation) — the same through a virtual PlayStation controller; Xbox emulation stops at four pads per machine, PlayStation has no such limit. Tick Unfocused input (CTR) in Settings and controller-mode clients can sit minimised behind each other. The external modes are marked recommended because they keep the bot outside the client, which is generally the safer arrangement; none of the four is wrong. Instances and input modes.

Sign-in, updates, hardware

Login with Remember Password (stored locally when ticked; a burst of failed sign-ins trips a temporary back-off, not a lock). An auto-updater with progress and transfer speed — the client refuses to run against a mismatched server version. The licence is not locked to a hardware id; the machines that have signed in with your key are listed under Hardware.

What it does not do

  • It does not decide what to loot. Your in-game loot filter does. There is no item database inside FollowBot; the one price check it makes is the unidentified-unique minimum.
  • It does not play your character. The leader is you, or a character you name. FollowBot needs someone at the keyboard; unattended mapping is AutoBot, a different product on the same download.
  • It does not give a profile its own hardware identifiers through Load. The HWID tab only works through Run, because the identifiers are recorded when the client starts, before login. With Enable on, Load is greyed out.
  • It does not make you safe. This is third-party automation and it is against the game’s terms of service. Read the ban-risk answer before you buy, and do not run it on an account you would be upset to lose.
  • Everything on this page was read from the current build, the build of . Anything not on this page is not a feature, whatever an old forum post says.

Questions

Does it work with Path of Exile 2?

FollowBot does. Following, fighting, flasks, looting, zoning, profiles, hotkeys, Auto-Input and the Process Selector all work, and Path of Exile 2’s own mechanics have their own settings — sprint and dodge roll (Enable sprint (POE2 only), Dodge roll past nearby monsters), resurrecting a downed party member, and the Player 2 box for a profile that plays the second local player in a two-player session, in a controller input mode. Delete any Run or Dodge inputs from Path of Exile 2 profiles; the sprint setting replaces them.

AutoBot does not. AutoBot runs Path of Exile only. If you are buying for unattended Path of Exile 2 mapping, this is not the product.

Path of Exile 2 changes substantially between patches, and so does what the software has to do to keep working. Check the changelog for the current state rather than assuming a feature you read about last league still works the same way.

Can I use a controller?

Yes, in two different ways. The bot holds the controller: pick Controller (recommended) or Controller (PlayStation) in the input dropdown above Load and the bot plays through a virtual pad of its own. It needs the ViGEmBus driver and the game client in controller mode. Xbox emulation stops at four pads per machine; PlayStation has no limit. Tick Unfocused input (CTR) in Settings and controller-mode clients do not need to be the window in front.

You hold the controller: FollowApp reads it and sends keyboard input to the game client it is attached to. Configure it in the Hotkeys dialog: set Device Index:, move the left stick, and watch the Left Stick X / Y: readout. The mapping table covers 26 controls, each sending one keyboard key; Player 1: and Player 2: switch which of your two profiles the controller is driving.

For passthrough, put the game into keyboard and mouse mode, not controller mode, and do not map anything to INSERT, DELETE or END.

Can FollowApp start the game client for me?

Yes. Run on the main window starts the selected profile’s game client and loads the profile into it; Load attaches to a client that is already running. Keep Alive makes Run also relaunch the client whenever it closes. Both are set up per profile in Edit Profile → Tools, on the Keep Alive tab: Path: must be set — Run is greyed out without it — and Windows User: left blank runs the client as you, with no password stored.

Each profile can carry its own captured game config and saved login (Capture current), swapped into the game folder before every Run and relaunch, so each profile comes up logged into its own account.

Do I need separate downloads for FollowBot, AutoBot and CraftBot?

No. One download, one application. Which of them you can use is decided by your subscription, not by which file you download. The External Overlay is in the same download too, behind the Overlay button.

If a feature is greyed out or refuses to load, it is not on your subscription. It is not a broken download.

Does it pick up everything, or only what I want?

Only what your in-game loot filter leaves visible, within Loot distance. FollowBot has no item list of its own, so the way to change what followers pick up is to change the filter they run. The one extra check is for unidentified uniques: a Minimum Price in chaos, with an Exceptions list for the ones you always want.

Is it against the game’s terms of service?

Yes. There is a risk, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling harder than we are. The honest answer in the FAQ says what we do about it and what you should do about it; read it before you buy, and do not run this on an account you would be upset to lose.
