No machine has signed in with any of your keys yet — the first sign-in lists one by itself.

Three machines are running instances right now — DESKTOP-RIG, LOFT-B450 and RYN-PC. The other three are PCs that have signed in with your keys before; nothing is locked to them and nothing here needs releasing.

How a machine gets on this list

The first time the app signs in on a machine, the server records an identifier derived from that machine and when it was seen. That is the whole mechanism. Nothing is locked to the machine: there is no count to run out of, and nothing here needs resetting. The only limit on a key is how many instances it runs at once.

A new PC

Install the app, put the same key in, and sign in. The new machine is listed here on its own; the old ones keep working.

New motherboard, a rebuilt PC or a virtual machine

Can present a different identifier, so it appears as a new entry. Nothing to do — the old entry stays in the list with the day it was last seen.

A machine you do not recognise

Someone else has your key. Open that licence and re-issue the key: the old key stops working at once, every running instance is cut off until it has the new one, and nothing else on the licence changes.

Expired licence

The list is kept. Overlay’s machines are still here and the key works again on all of them when it is renewed.

Instances are the limit, not machines. A 5-instance plan runs five clients at once — on one PC or spread across several with the same key. The setup guide explains instances.
